1. All instruction with Pacific Beach Surf School includes
a Surfboard and wetsuit with the price of the lesson.
We teach on soft foam Surfboards and suggest ALL students
begin this way for safety and ease of wave catching.
2. All students must be of
experienced swimming ability and able
to handle themselves in open ocean waters.
3. Lessons must be pre-registered
(at least 24 hours) in advance and pre-paid
to insure your time slot. Partial deposit payments are
only accepted for Summer Camps.
4. All lesson students are required to sign
a waiver of release and any student under
the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present and
sign for them at the introduction to the instructor.
5. Any medical condition
the student may have (Allergies, Asthma, Protein Aversions)
must be brought to the attention of the Surf Director.
6. We suggest arriving to our shop location at
least 15 minutes before your scheduled
lesson.
7. Parking will be free for up
to 2 hours with validation. You may park

8. What to bring with you: sunscreen, bathing suit, towel,
bottled water, change of clothes. Optional: Hair tie,
cameras, snacks, hats, umbrella, chairs, your own wetsuit
or Surfboard. Remember,
you are responsible for what you bring down to the beach!
We cannot keep up with your belongings!
9. Instructors willingly accept tipping
from students and we encourage and appreciate
students and parents doing so.
10. Pacific Beach Surf Shop does not book travel or hotel
accommodations. We do not
provide shuttle service.

13. ALL OF OUR SURFING INSTRUCTIONS
INCLUDE SAFETY AND HISTORY LECTURE. IT IS OUR CHOICE AND
DUTY TO CREATE WELL INFORMED SURFERS IN THE WATER. PATIENCE
IS KEY TO YOU LEARNING HOW TO SURF!

15. PBSURF is not responsible
or in control of weather patters or Surf conditions.
16. The best time to learn to Surf in PB is going to be
early morning before 11am,
although the Surf is great for beginners all day long
from May to September. Early morning time slots fill quickly,
so make reservations up
to a week in advance.
17. Walk up lessons are encouraged in the Spring and Summer
seasons, but we are on a first
come first serve basis and cannot provide
on the spot Private Lessons.
18. All instructors (Both Male and Female) are avid Surfers
and have been American Red
Cross Certified in Open Ocean Awareness, First Aid and
CPR. We are also trained in Open Ocean
Awareness, including tides, rips, currents and wave anatomy
by San Diego City Lifeguards.
19. All Instructors are visible from the beach wearing
Red “Instructor Jerseys”.
We are licensed by the City of San Diego to teach Surfing
between Crystal Pier and Pacific Beach Drive. We are the
only Surf school allowed to teach in this area.
20. We are insured for Open
Ocean Surfing Instruction.
